Christie Brinkley Pens Touching Tribute to Billy Joel's Mother

by The Insider 1:35 mins

Billy Joel's mother, Rosalind Nyman Joel, who inspired his song, "Rosalinda's Eyes" off his 1978 album, "52nd Street," died on Sunday at the age of 92 in New York's Long Island. But Rosalind had an impact on the lives of more than those in her immediate family. Christie Brinkley, Joel's ex-wife, took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a touching tribute to her former mother-in-law following her passing. "At sad times we look for ways to find the good to lift our spirits, So I have only to imagine what Rosalinda's Eyes have seen to find cause to celebrate a life well lived!" Brinkley goes on to imagine Mrs. Joel's feelings on her ex's achievements over the past year alone (including receiving the Kennedy Center Honor and taking up residency at Madison Square Garden), as well as those of daughter Alexa Ray Joel. "Her eyes sparkled with pride and joy as the former Gilbert and Sullivan chorus girl watched her granddaughter Alexa perform at the famed Cafe Carlyle surrounded by a large group of her friends enjoying themselves," she continued alongside a black and white pic of Rosalind as a young woman. Check out the video to hear more of Christie's sweet message and tune in to "The Insider With Yahoo" on TV tonight for the latest in entertainment news.
