Could This Interview With Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara Be More Awkward?!

by The Insider 1:50 mins

Awkward! Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara were subjected to one seriously offensive line of questioning recently while doing press for their upcoming film. "Fantastic Four," along with co-star Jamie Bell. Things went sour quickly when two DJs from Atlanta's Rock 100.5 Mornings asked how Jordan's character Johnny Storm, could be related to Mara's character, Sue Storm. "From what I understand, you're brother and sister," the DJ Jason Bailey asked. "Yeah," Jordan, 28, replied. "Am I missing something?" the DJ added. "No," Jordan responded. But Bailey wouldn't give up. "You're white and you're black. How does that happen?" he asked. "They could be raised as brother and sister," Jordan replied. "There's a whole bunch of family dynamics that could be without the obvious adoption." And while Bailey eventually let that line of questioning go, the second host, Southside Steve, soon turned to Mara to ask about her new pixie haircut. "You're way, way hot. Why'd you cut the hair? Your hair was beautiful," he said. "This is a great interview," Mara, 32, joked to Bell before adding, "I cut my hair for a movie I just did." And when Steve wouldn't stop asking Mara to grow her hair back, he declared, "I'm a toe guy, your toes are fine." The actress was shocked, responding with a simple, "Wow," before the Rock 100.5 interview was shut down. Bailey later defended himself to Buzzfeed, writing, "Look, not a huge fan of these controlled 5-7 minute interview junkets they run in the first place but I was curious about the brother and sister thing. You have a white sister and black brother wouldn’t you want to know how that happened? I did. The other Fantastic Four franchises explain the relationship so I figured with this new hipster version they’d have some different backstory." He added that his partner was joking with Mara while Jordan took a phone call. "My partner’s (Southside Steve) conversation about Kate’s hair is something that came up while Michael B. Jordan took a phone call so I think they were kind of just going back forth in a playful way," he said. "As for him complimenting her toes and why people are upset about that… sorry… no idea. Steve likes girl's toes. People should be appreciative when they get complimented."
