The zoo was heavily damaged when flood waters from the Bow and Elbow Rivers spilled into the park. Damage is estimated in the tens of millions of dollars. Zoo officials had to move large and dangerous animals away from rising flood waters and the hippos almost escaped. Zoo officials say things could have been much worse, and they're proud of how many animals were saved.
