Zoe Saldana Calls Out Hollywood Sexism -- Do Movie Studios Refuse to Pay for Child Care?

It seems Hollywood's problem with sexism could extend beyond fair wages, and interesting roles for women.

Actress and awesome human being Zoe Saldana spoke to USA Today about the double standards Hollywood has with what it will and won't pay for when it comes to its male and female stars.

According to Saldana, studios "spend more money sometimes 'perking' up male superstars in a movie," such as covering "a really phat penthouse or them staying in a yacht instead of them staying on land."

However, as Saldana notes, that generosity runs short when the topic of child care comes up.

"A woman comes in going, 'OK, I have a child. You're taking me away from my home. You're taking my children away from their home. And you're going to make me work a lot more hours than I usually would if I was home. Therefore, I would have to pay for this nanny for more hours — so I kind of need that,'" she said. "And they go, 'Nope, we don't pay for nannies.'"

Saldana had beautiful twins, Bowie Ezio and Cy Aridio, with her husband Marco Perego in November of last year, after a pregnancy she said didn't sit well with some Hollywood executives.

"The productions I was slated to work on sort of had a panic," she said. "I heard through the grapevine there was even a conversation of me being written off of one of the projects."

This week, Saldana talked to ETonline to shut down the criticism of her artist husbands decision to take her last name in their marriage.

"I'm very happy that people are talking about [it]," she said. "For men to be discriminated and picked on for wanting to take on their partner's name, for their masculinity to be put into question, I think it's disgusting. It shouldn't be that way."

THANK YOU, Zoe! Thank you.

Saldana's newest movie Infinitely Polar Bear is in select theaters now.
