Today, during Super Bowl L, 20th Century Fox will likely release new footage from X-Men: Apocalypse that will surely grab the attention of everyone watching the biggest sporting event of the year.

How do you follow the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past? You bring in the first and most powerful mutant: Apocalypse! He's been resting for thousands of years, but now that he's awake he's ready to cleanse the Earth of the weak. Because with him, only the strong survive. To help him carry out his mission, he recruits a quartet of mutants (Magneto, Storm, Psylocke and Angel) that he imbues with new powers.

It is up to Professor X, Mystique and a team of young X-Men (Quicksilver, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Havok, Beast and Nightcrawler) to prevent Apocalypse and his cronies from destroying mankind.

What might we see in this Super Bowl spot? I'm hoping to see Jubilee using her fire-plasmoid power, Nightcrawler teleporting or acting like a swashbuckler, Psylocke fighting with her psionic blades and more of Quicksilver's latest slow-motion/super-speed scene.

Directed by Bryan Singer, from a screenplay by Simon Kinberg. The film stars: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Olivia Munn, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Lana Condor, and Ben Hardy.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27, 2016.
