'X Factor' Makes Major Hosting Change

Some major changes are in the works for the second season of FOX's singing competition, The X Factor. Although Simon Cowell would not confirm who the new X Factor judges would be, he did reveal a couple of new tidbits during a press conference on Wednesday. Simon announced that in addition to having two hosts replace Steve Jones, the new unnamed mentors filling the shoes of season one’s Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, would both be women.

In late January, the show has made headlines by dropping last season’s mentors Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger, as well as host Steve Jones. Recently, rumors have been flying that pop stars Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears may be next on hand for the coveted mentor roles.

The X Factor Auditions Begin March 1

Cowell remarked that the new mentor announced would be made in the coming weeks.
