'X Factor': How Did Demi & Britney Do?

Simon Cowell's signature snark took a backseat to Britney Spears' surprisingly naughty debut as a first-time judge on the season premiere of The X Factor USA.

Not afraid to tell it like it is, Spears shot down many a would-be hopeful as she, alongside Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell, oversaw auditions in Austin, TX, San Francisco, CA, and Providence, RI.

"I felt I was listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks," "that was just kind of bad" and "you need a new teacher to teach you how to sing" were just a handful of the one-liners delivered by the Princess of Pop as shocked contestants were given the not-so-subtle message to vacate the stage.

Spears wasn't the only one to dish some attitude tonight. Fellow newbie judge Demi Lovato got some good digs in, telling off 50-year-old Shawn Armenta, whose performance of his own pop song, Candy Girl, left a sour taste in her mouth.

"A lot of people work really, really hard for their dreams, but it's not meant for everybody," Lovato responds after the painful audition. Armenta was quick to fire back at the 20-year-old, accusing her of becoming a superstar with the help of autotune.

Spears immediately jumped to her pal's defense, shooting daggers at the performer. "I want to know who let you on stage," quips Spears. "I feel uncomfortable with you just staring at me."

A colorful collection of winners ultimately made it through night one, including a 21-year-old single-mom deemed Rihanna-esque by L.A. Reid, a pint-sized Bieber in the making and a hunky boy band.

19-year-old Jillian Jensen's tryout was decidedly the most emotional as she delivered a heart-breaking song and tale of bullying that rang true with judge Lovato.

"When you sang, you broke my heart," proclaimed the Disney star through tears. "I can't wait for the bullies at home to see this," she added before the panel bestowed an anonymous "yes" on the young singer.

Tune in tomorrow to FOX for part two of The X Factor's season premiere!
