Why We Think Jon Hamm Would Make an Awesome Dad, No Matter What He Says!

Yahoo Contributor Network

One thing's for sure, Jon Hamm is not mad about being a parent any time soon. The man who breathes life into Don Draper's handsome lungs (he's so good looking, how could his vital organs also not be strikingly attractive?), recently told Us Weekly that despite what it looks like from "Mad Men," he's not so sure he'd be a good daddy. "I'd be a terrible father! I see my friends who have children and I'm like, 'Dude, how are you even upright, much less here at work at 6 a.m.?'"

Hamm and his girlfriend, Jennifer Westfeldt, have been together for fourteen years. Two actually worked together on the new film, "Friends With Kids," but according to Jennifer the burning desire to procreate just hasn't kicked in for either of them. Says Westfeldt, "I've thought about this a lot lately. I never thought I'd be this age and not have kids. But my life has also gone in a million ways I never anticipated."

We happen to think Jon is selling himself short, showing that humility that allows him to trade on his good looks for hilarious appearances on the NBC sitcom "30 Rock," or on films like "Bridesmaids," and that he'd actually make a great father. As far as we can tell, there's some pretty compelling evidence out there.

He'd Keep His Kids Away From Reality TV - Given his recent dust up with the reigning queen of reality-show overload, Kim Kardashian, it's clear what Hamm's feelings about the genre itself are. We're pretty sure that he'd do everything in his power to keep his kids both from watching, and from eventually participating in any "candid" look at the Hamm family. Though, to be honest there is some intrigue on our part for "Hamm-ing It Up!" to air one day...

He Can At Least Act Like A Good Father - Don Draper has many flaws. He's sexist, he's hiding a shady secret from just about the entire world, and he's got an overzealous penchant for booze and smokes. But one thing has been clear about Draper from the start of "Mad Men," and that's his commitment to being a father. Often times it's Don stepping in between his ex-wife Betty's harsh punishments and their three children to deflect some of the potential damage. Maybe if he had a baby of his own, Jon could could at least fake it until he makes it, so to speak.

We Really Just Want to See Handsome Babies - Who else wouldn't want to see just what effect Hamm's genes would have on the baby's looks? Westfeldt is certainly gorgeous too, so the pairing could result in creating the Most Beautiful Baby in the History of the World. We're saying here that maybe he and Jennifer should make a baby just for scientific reasons, to study just how good looking the baby would become.
