When Cohen asked Hawke to pick his favorite onscreen kisser, he selected the pouty-lipped beauty over Winona Ryder and Julie Delpy, both actresses with whom he shared MTV nominations for best movie kiss in past years. "Angelina Jolie was born to whittle men, to make them weak," he said. "When she kisses you, you don't know your name."
Ironically, Hawke and Jolie were not nominated for MTV's kissing prize in their one and only movie together.
The fiancé of Brad Pitt, who recently made headlines for undergoing a double mastectomy to avoid getting breast cancer, is not the only hot kisser in Hollywood.
In four of the last five years, Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson won the MTV best kiss award for their roles in various "Twilight" movies. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper finally broke their winning streak last year in "Silver Linings Playbook."
Since the MTV prize is based on the votes of fans, we wondered what the stars themselves said about their onscreen kissing partners.
Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift started dating when the two appeared together in "Valentine's Day." Life imitated art when the onscreen couple became a couple in real life, possibly due to their onscreen kiss which Swift dubbed "life changing" (though she has since dated many more men).
If she hadn't gotten engaged to dolly gripper James Heerdegen in February, Christina Ricci might want to have a rebound relationship with Robert Pattinson. "He's a sweet guy and super funny . . . and a really good kisser" she said of her kiss with the actor on the set of "Bel Ami."
Keira Knightley gave her co-star Johnny Depp a glowing review after their onscreen kiss in "Pirates of the Caribbean." "I couldn't ask for a better kissing scene with Johnny Depp," she said. "I think my 14-year-old self was yelping with pleasure."
Though it's not polite to kiss and tell, no one seems to mind when their smooching skills get a thumbs up. But some actors and actresses have also been outed as bad kissers.
Helen Mirren revealed that Harrison Ford, despite being "the sweetest guy you could want to meet" is known in the business for lacking kissing chops. "He finds it impossible to kiss on screen," she said, adding, "He's probably not very good off screen either. It's not just me -- other actresses agree. Whenever we get chatting off screen and we get around to talking, we come to the same conclusion."
Though Gwyneth Paltrow once gave Tom Cruise props for his kissing skills, Thandie Newton was not so fond of kissing her "Mission: Impossible 2" co-star. "Kissing Tom Cruise was slightly icky and sort of wet," she said. "I'd really go home at the end of the day actually moaning about how hot it was and how many times we had to do it."
Ironically, the woman whom Hawke called out as his favorite kisser was a fizzle for James McAvoy. "I can tell you what it was like to kiss her on a film set," he said of Angelina Jolie. "It was awkward, sweaty, and not very nice."
