Thursday's vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan generated more than 4 million tweets, according to official statistics from Twitter. And, needless to say, several of those comments came from celebrities weighing in on the election.

Many of the stars used the platform to heap praise on the moderator, ABC News's Martha Raddatz, rather than weighing in on the two politicians' performances — although most seemed to think Biden, whose constant laughing spawned the parody account @LaughinJoeBiden, was the stronger of the two.

Here's a roundup of some of the best reactions:

Bill Maher (@billmaher): "Hello 9 1 1? There s an old man beating a child on my tv"

Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt): "Ryan is a nervous Walmart manager. Biden is an irate customer with the receipt, the warranty & he's friends w/ the store owner. #debate"

Kat Dennings (@OfficialKat): "Paul Ryan comes off like a 5 year old under a tree telling his friends what the rules of tag are #debate."

Samantha Bee (@iamsambee): "I'm listening to the debate on the radio so I can't see anything. Biden's wearing leather pants, right? Please say yes."

Dane Cook (@DaneCook): "They need to play The Little Rascals theme music underneath this debate."

Bethenny Frankel (@Bethenny): "I can't watch this debate without thinking about these two candidates being mocked on SNL this Saturday."

Sarah Hyland (@Sarah_Hyland): "Paul Ryan's pin is bigger than Biden's.#debates #fact."

Eric Stonestreet (@ericstonestreet): " Joe should be a sexy policeman for Halloween and Paul should be a sexy kitten. Martha should go as Martha."

Eva Longoria (@evalongoria): "Martha Raddatz is best moderator ever!!!"

Debra Messing (@DebraMessing): "MARTHA for President!! WOW she was awesome. Detailed questions, thoughtful follow-ups, control over the candidates, she shud moderate again"

Albert Brooks (@AlbertBrooks): "If either candidate says Big Bird tonight I'm not voting for them."

Jesse Williams (@iJesseWilliams): "This is too easy. These cameras are on right?" - @JoeBiden"

Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter): "this is turning into a 2-man version of "the view""

Aziz Ansari (@azizansari): "Has anyone brought up what the candidates would do re: Abu Nazir?"
