Valerie Harper has received an outpouring of well-wishes and even gifts since recently revealing she has terminal brain cancer.
"It's been overwhelming and almost -- not a burden -- but a responsibility," Valerie said on Thursday at a news conference for the reunion of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" cast, who are set to appear together on an upcoming episode of TV Land's "Hot In Cleveland," addressing the response she's gotten since she shared her news with her fans and the world.
"I think, when am I gonna get to these letters and these gifts and these blankets and a lot of remedies -- some a little questionable -- but coming from such a good place... and supporting me," she continued.
Valerie said she has plans to try and respond to people, but she has been enjoying her work, which has been keeping her busy.
"It's been wonderful and sweet, and I've gotta get back to everyone, but I've been busy. I've been so busy and then working on the show has been great," she said, with her trademark smile.
Valerie also offered an update on her health at the news conference (where she sat alongside Cloris Leachman, Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White and Georgia Engel), telling reporters she is doing all right.
"I don't have a lot of bad symptoms, and they may be down the road, but I'm not thinking of down the road," she said. "I'm just thinking of today, and I'm thinking of this moment and getting my lines right so I support my fellow players and I serve the audience who are going to see this really funny show."
The episode featuring "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" players on "Hot In Cleveland" airs on September 4, 2013 on TV Land.
