Before "True Grit," few were familiar with Hailee Steinfeld. However, once Joel and Ethan Coen's critically acclaimed adaptation hit the big screen, that all changed. The 14-year-old, who turns 15 on December 11, was nominated for over 20 awards for her performance as the precocious Mattie Ross. Her nominations include the prestigious Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, presented at the 83rd Academy Awards.

In the Western, the young actress was all pig-tails as she stood her ground against Rooster Cogburn, played by Jeff Bridges. But the world soon learned that not only is the star bright and articulate, the 5' 7" teen, with her luxuriant flowing hair, has a distinctive fashion sense. In addition to proving her acting ability, in 2011 she proved to be an up-and-coming fashion icon on the red carpet whether in Prada, Albert Ferretti, Miu Miu or Marc Jacobs.

For those who watched the 2011 Golden Globes, it was Hailee in a long, cream Prabal Gurung gown, who stood next to a Justin Bieber, looking just as mature, or even more so, than the 17-year-old mega singer. Poised and regal, only her Twitter gave away any trace of a giddy teen. "I have to admit, I was VERY shy when I was standing next to Justin," she tweeted .

As of May 2011, the gorgeous teen with her model looks is the new face of Miu Miu, and she's clearly enjoying her new noteworthy gig as displayed in this Twitpic. "Just received the most beautiful handbag and the most spectacular pair of shoes from Miu Miu. Celine and Lily, I LOVE YOU!!!"

The haute couture model is the perfect choice, always looking confident and comfortable, despite her young age. She's also been seen with other young fashion conscious stars, such as with Elle Fanning at a dinner at the Chanel boutique in Los Angeles.

With a long career ahead of her, it's no surprise that the teen to watch in 2012 already has a few films lined up including "Romeo and Juliet," "Rosaline" and "Ender's Game," a sci-fi flick scheduled to appear in 2013 and rumored to be starring Harrison Ford. Directed by Gavin Hood, Steinfeld will play Petra Arkanian. As reported at IMBd, "70 years after a horrific alien war, an unusually gifted child is sent to an advanced military school in space to prepare for a future invasion." Sounds like another winner, and we look forward to seeing her performance.
