The holidays are in full swing. Turkey Day and Black Friday are not-so-distant memories and now it's time to move on to Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's. Aside from the shopping and the cooking and the traveling, there's a lot of TV watching to be done. From holiday specials with performances by current stars to holiday themed episodes of favorite shows there's something for everyone. This year the teens are representing on some of the biggest events of the season. Here's a rundown on some of the young stars on holiday shows.
"Christmas in Rockefeller Center"
On Wednesday, November 28, NBC will light one of the world's most famous Christmas trees. The 80-foot tall Norway Spruce from New Jersey stands next to the ice rink outside the NBC studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The "Today" show's Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie will host the event featuring star-studded performances. Two teens will join the festivities this year. Victoria Justice, star of Nickelodeon's "Victorious" will sing a medley of classic Christmas carols, while "American Idol" alum Scotty McCreery will perform a song from his new CD "Christmas with Scotty." Tune in on Wednesday, November 28 at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. Central on NBC.
"Good Luck Charlie"
On Sunday, December 2, "Good Luck Charlie" will feature a special Christmas-themed episode with guest star Shirley Jones playing Grandma Linda. On this show, Teddy (played by Bridgit Mendler) brings Charlie to see Santa but he takes a break just as they approach, which does not sit well with Teddy. As a special treat to Bridgit Mendler fans, the young star sings a duet of "My Song For You" with her boyfriend Spencer (played by Shane Harper). Tune in on Sunday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m EST/6:30 p.m. Central on the Disney Channel.
"Austin & JESSIE & Ally All Star New Year"
In a special crossover event, the season premiere of "Austin & Ally" will feature a guest appearance by "Jessie" star Debby Ryan. During the episode Austin (applied by Ross Lynch) is scheduled to perform in Times Square on New Year's Eve, and Jessie comes to his rescue when the crowds prevent him from getting where he's trying to go. Lynch and Ryan sing a duet of "Face to Face" and he also sings "Christmas Soul" and "Can You Feel It." Tune in on Friday, December 7 at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. Central on the Disney Channel.
"Barbara Walters Presents the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012"
Every year Barbara Walters picks ten people she has found to be the most newsworthy and highlights them on her annual special. This time around there are six teams on the list (although five of them take only one slot). Walters will speak to Olympic Gold medalist, 16-year-old Gabby Douglas, who just appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" with finalist and fellow Olympian Shawn Johnson. "The View" host also named the British boy band One Direction to her 2012 list after their meteoric rise to fame in the States. Tune in on Wednesday, December 12 at 9:31 p.m. EST/8:31 p.m. Central on ABC and see if maybe a teen takes the top spot.
"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2013"
The beginning of the first New Year's Eve since Dick Clark passed away will be marked by some sadness and a tribute to the show's namesake. But then the party will kick off with big names like Brandy, Carly Rae Jepsen and Flo Rida. But topping the bill and headlining the New Year's festivities this season is America's darling and heartbreaker Taylor Swift. Tune in to ring in the New Year with Taylor on Monday, December 31 at 10 p.m. EST/9 p.m. Central on ABC.
