The Teen Choice Awards airs on July 22, 2012, the annual awards show voted on by young adult fans. With Kevin McHale ("Glee") and Demi Lovato hosting the show and Justin Bieber performing, there should be something here to satisfy teens everywhere. With that in mind, here is a look at some of the nominees who deserve to win awards on this night.

Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling is a star who saw his face everywhere in 2011. He starred in a minor masterpiece in "Drive," a political drama in "Ides of March" and a romantic comedy in "Crazy Stupid Love." The former member of the Mickey Mouse Club really made it clear in 2011 that he has arrived.

However, he most major awards shows ignored him in 2012. The Oscars shut him out completely, although he did pick up two nominations in the Golden Globes. This is where the Teen Choice Awards can finally give him the credit he deserves for his performances, proving these young fans know a good thing when they see it.

Gosling is nominated for Choice Movie Actor, Drama ("Drive"), Choice Movie Actor, Comedy ("Crazy, Stupid, Love") and Choice Male Hottie.

Robert Downey Jr.

You can't star in the most successful and popular movie of the year and not get noticed for it. Robert Downey Jr. received two nominations, the first for Choice Movie Actor, Action for "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows." However, it is his second nomination that he deserves the win for. Downey is up for Choice Movie Actor, Sci-Fi/Fantasy for his role as Iron Man in "The Avengers."

He does have strong competition from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" and "The Hunger Games," but Downey deserves this award.

Tom Cruise

He is one of the most controversial figures in entertainment but Tom Cruise enjoyed a career revival in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol." Out of all of the nominees in the Choice Movie Actor, Action category, he deserves the award over them all. There is a chance Taylor Lautner could take it based on his popularity to young adult audiences, but that would be a crime.

Joshua Jackson

He has little chance of winning this thanks to his competitors being on "The Vampire Diaries" and "Supernatural," but Joshua Jackson holds a special place in the history of the Teen Choice Awards. Jackson received nominations for five years in a row for his role on "Dawson's Creek" and won the first three Choice Actor, TV awards. This is now his fourth year in a row to pick up a nomination for "Fringe," and it is about time he won it.

Linda Hunt

While she is a little older than you might expect for an actress nominated for a Teen Choice Award, Linda Hunt is easily the best actress on the Choice TV Actress, Action list of nominees. The star of "NCIS: Los Angeles" is the heart and soul of the series and deserves the win if she hears her name called.
