Sylvester Stallone

This summer hasn't been kind to "Expendables 2" actor Sylvester Stallone: His half-sister, Toni Ann Filiti, passed away from cancer at 48 at their mother's home in Santa Monica, Calif.

"I was holding her in my arms," the pair's mother, Jackie Stallone, told the New York Daily News. "I had just washed [her] face and told her how pretty she looked, and she just fell asleep. … She's too young to go, but she wasn't feeling any pain."

The death comes just two months after Stallone's son, Sage Stallone, was found dead in his Los Angeles apartment. No definitive cause of death has been released, but Jackie is taking comfort that Sage and Jackie will be together in heaven.

"What a terrible month - first Sage and now Toni. It's hard. At least they're together now in heaven," she said.

Sadly, Stallone isn't the only celebrity to face multiple tragedies at once.

Weird Al Yankovic

Weird Al Yankovic is known for making us laugh, but he faced some serious sorrow when his parents died from carbon monoxide poisoning. The comedian posted a touching message about Nick and Mary Yankovic on his website.

"It was the result of a terrible accident - that morning they had started a fire in the fireplace with the flue closed, and were asphyxiated by carbon monoxide poisoning," he wrote of their 2004 deaths. Their deaths occurred when he was on the road. Amazingly, he took the stage later that night, telling the audience that he did it "since my music had helped many of my fans through tough times, maybe it would work for me as well" and that "at least ... give me a break from sobbing all the time."

Jennifer Hudson

It's bad enough to lose your family to a tragic accident, but singer Jennifer Hudson had to endure the murders of her mother, brother and nephew by the hands of her sister's estranged husband, William Balfour.

Balfour was found guilty of the three grisly murders and given several life sentences in prison. The Oscar winner's tearful testimony was likely what sealed his fate. She took the witness stand during the first week of the trial and sobbed as she recalled her family and said how she missed talking to her mother, someone she "talked to every day."
