Junior Seau Laid to Rest

Celebrities, fellow athletes and fans are mourning the loss of NFL legend Junior Seau who was found dead this morning of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at his home in Oceanside, California.

"Watching and reading all the coverage on Junior Seau..Heartbreaking and tragic..Prayers to his family and friends," Erin Andrews posted to her Twitter after hearing the sad news.

"We shared a lot of laughs from our AFC West battles when I saw Junior before he was inducted into the Chargers HOF," reminisced legendary quarterback John Elway. "Junior was a true competitor and a special player. My heartfelt condolences go out to the Seau family."

"Saddened 2 hear of the death of NFL GREAT Junior Seau! A great football player but an even GREATER man! He will b missed!" wrote Kurt Warner.

Nick Lachey tweeted, "So sad to hear about junior seau's passing. I loved him as a Trojan (USC player) and got to know him a little over the years. Great guy. Rip."

"My prayers and condolences to the family of one of the NFL's greatest linebackers to ever play the game.. Junior Seau.. R.I.P" posted Chad Ochocinco.

"Rest in Peace to my former teammate JUNIOR SEAU," wrote Terry Crews. "This is hard to comprehend."

"#RIP Junior Seau. Great friend and competitor..... Had great times together. Will be missed," said Michael Strahan.

" God Bless Junior Seau & his family! My heart & condolences go out 2 his family." tweeted Terrell Owens. "May u RIP!"

Holly Robinson Peete wrote, "Paralyzed with grief over the loss of our dear friend Junior Seau... Husband devastated. I just don't want to believe it. Loved him...." Peete's husband, Rodney Peete, played at USC with Seau.

"Everyone at the Chargers is in complete shock and disbelief right now," reads the official website of the San Diego Chargers." We ask everyone to stop what they're doing and send their prayers to Junior and his family." The team is currently displaying a photo of the late linebacker on their main page in memorium. Seau was inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame on November 27, 2011.

The former linebacker also played for the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots in a career spanning 20 seasons before retiring in January. He leaves behind three children and an ex-wife, Gina Deboer. Seau was 43 years old.
