Make way for Junior!
Simon Cowell recently told Extra that he's got the name game all figured out for the baby boy he's expecting with girlfriend Lauren Silverman. The "X Factor" head honcho said he'd like to name his son after himself or after his late father.
"My number one choice is Simon because I like the name," Cowell said. But he added that his own father's name -- Eric -- is another contender: "His birthday is going to be very close to my dad's birthday," he said.
In an era of Blue Ivys and Rainbows and Norths, it's refreshing to hear about a homegrown family name.
Actor Vince Vaughn named his son Vernon Lindsay Vaughn, after his paternal grandfather, while Ivanka Trump named her son Joseph Frederick, after her baby's great grandfathers. But J.R. Martinez went a different family name route when naming his daughter, Lauryn Anabelle.
Before the baby was born, the "Dancing With the Stars" champ told E! News: "We won't name her Apple Cider or Salami. It won't be our favorite dish or our favorite getaway or favorite car or show. It will be something really close and personal to us that feels like we're giving something to her that is very special."
Talk about an understatement. The baby was named after Martinez's girlfriend's sister Lauren, who passed away at age 17, and the actor's own sister Anabel, who died when he was a child. According to People, the couple had a wall mural painted over their daughter's crib, depicting their late sisters as angels.
"When we thought about the idea of the sisters looking over her - it's like we have two angels looking over our little one," Martinez explained. "It's a way to honor our sisters and give her the names of angels."
Of course, some celebs take family names too far.
Michael Jackson's kids may be known as Prince, Paris and Blanket, but they're all actually named Michael. According to the Huffington Post, the late pop star's firstborn son is named Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. (AKA "Prince Michael"), his daughter is named Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, and his youngest son is named Prince Michael Jackson II.
Even more over the top is George Foreman's brood. The former boxer turned grill guru named all five of his sons George. But he had a really good reason.
Foreman told CBS News: "You got Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Kenny Norton, Ron Lyle ... you let those people hit you on the head and see how many names you gonna remember. It would be confusing… I kept it simple. I never forget a name."
