Simon Cowell Comes Out as Straight: Who Else is Denying Gay Rumors?

Yahoo Contributor Network

Simon Cowell is coming out of the closet, as straight.

As he quoted in a new book, "If I was gay, why wouldn't I admit it? It wouldn't harm me and my mother wouldn't freak out."

The talent mogul has been dealing with gay rumors for quite a few years now. Back in 2002, Elton John asked Cowell, "When are you going to come out and admit you're gay?" With his trademark wit, he replied, "If it means I end up with you, Elton, then never."

We're pretty sure that Simon likes women. If there's one quality that stands out about Simon, it's his brutal honesty. He doesn't seem like someone who would hide away in a closet.

Simon is not the only one who has addressed gay rumors recently. Who else is setting the record "straight"?

Jeremy Renner

The "Avengers" star is not happy about the invasion of privacy that goes along with fame.

Addressing the gay rumors, he responds , "I want my personal life to be personal, and it's not f-ing true. And I don't care if you're talking about things that are true, you're still talking about my personal life. How about I go peek in your window, take what underwear you wore last night, whose husband you were f-ing, and shove that in the megaphone throughout your neighborhood? How does that feel?"

One Direction

In a recent interview, Harry Styles and Louis Thomlinson addressed rumors suggesting that they are in a secret gay relationship.

Although they deny that they are gay, they think the rumors are funny. Thomlinson remarks, "Some people genuinely think that we're in a relationship. I was looking at this thing the other day..They genuinely, seriously think that we're in a relationship. It's so funny!"

Bruno Mars

This month, rumors circulated that Bruno had come out of the closet in an interview, first under the guise of an April Fool's Day joke, then for real.

However, Bruno's rep clarified that any rumors of him coming out were "completely false" and "fabricated."

Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith

For years, Will and Jada have dealt with rumors about their sexual orientation. This month, Jada addressed rumors that their marriage was on the rocks.

As she remarked, "These rumors are completely untrue. I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does. ... But our lifestyle hasn't changed. Before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects."
