Simon Cowell: ‘Being A Dad To Baby Eric Has Given My Life Purpose’

Simon Cowell has worked his butt off to become one of the most famous and powerful men in the music industry, taking over Saturday night TV and becoming the very definition of a ‘music mogul’.

However, it seems that years of undisputed success, including bringing the world One Direction and Little Mix, wasn’t enough for Si, with the 56-year-old admitting in a new interview that his life didn’t have “purpose” until he became a dad to his son, Eric.

All together now: N’awww.

The X Factor judge has opened up about fatherhood in a new interview with Hello! magazine, alongside his girlfriend, and Eric’s mother, Lauren Silverman.

Speaking about his 20-month-old son, Simon explained to the mag: “Fatherhood gives your life purpose. You can work flat out for years, but having a child gives you a different perspective, purpose and an understanding.”

And as Eric gets older, Simon is only finding this whole ‘parenting’ malarkey easier, adding: “Now that he’s communicating, it’s much easier for me to be involved.

“I didn’t know what to say to him when he was six months old but now he listens, talks, responds - I think he’s very advanced.

“He understands a lot. He loves music and really responds to it.”

He loves music, eh? Is Si already preparing to hand over his empire to Cowell Junior?

The star added: “He’s walking, talking - he’s turning into me.”, which is a sentiment that Lauren wholeheartedly agrees with - revealing that Eric is so much like his father it is actually a little bit scary.

She revealed: “He even dislikes the same foods as Simon - it’s uncanny. He won’t eat eggs, cheese or sweet potatoes. I even bought a variety that looked like white potatoes but he spat it out.”

Erm… We’re pretty sure that Lauren is talking about Eric spitting the potatos out, but when it comes to Mr. Cowell you never do know for sure…
