Shakira has only been a mom for four months, but she long term plans when it comes to breastfeeding her son, Milan. The 36-year-old pop star and "Voice" mentor recently told Us Weekly that she loves bonding with her baby during mealtime, saying, "Breastfeeding has been one of the best experiences of my life. I love it! I can't stop! I think I'm going to breastfeed him until he goes to college! I'm hooked!"

While Shakira will surely cut the cord long before Milan is filling out those college apps, there are plenty of other celeb moms who breastfed their babes for an extended period of time.

Mayim Bialik

Actress Mayim Bialik has always been vocal about her family's practice of attachment parenting. In a 2012 interview with Time, Bialik revealed that she was still breastfeeding her toddler son, Frederick, during the day, calling the process "Fred-led weaning." But earlier this year, the actress revealed that she had finally stopped breastfeeding the 4-year-old, announcing the news on the Jewish parenting website Kveller: "Fred isn't going to nurse on his way down the wedding aisle or at his high school graduation. I didn't need to break him of a 'habit' and teach him 'who's in charge.' I didn't need to set boundaries you thought I should have set when I didn't want to set them. Because we did it: Fred weaned. I nursed Fred four to six times a night for three years. I pumped at work for Fred from the time I got the job on 'The Big Bang Theory' when he was 18 months old until he was 3…I didn't nurse him literally anywhere, anytime, but I made sure to meet his needs and have mine satisfied as well."

Kelly Rutherford

"Gossip Girl" star Kelly Rutherford made headlines in 2008 when she continued to breastfeed her 2-year-old son, Hermes, while pregnant with her second child. In an interview with The Bump, the actress said, "The funny thing is everyone says, 'Oh no, you can't get pregnant when you're nursing.' Well, I got pregnant. And then they said, 'Oh, your son won't want to nurse when you're pregnant because the milk changes.' Well, that didn't happen, either -- he nursed throughout the entire pregnancy. And then they said, 'When the other child gets there he won't want to nurse because it will be a competition.' But oh no, he still wanted to nurse. So at about two-and-a-half, I had to wean him because my daughter wasn't getting enough milk...But yes, for awhile I breastfed both of them at the same time and they co-slept with me."

Jada Pinkett Smith

Back when she was pregnant with her second child, Willow, actress Jada Pinkett Smith told Fit Pregnancy she breastfed her first baby, Jaden, for 18 months. "That baby never even saw a bottle," she said. "He went everywhere with me -- premieres, award shows. I would just find a back room and hook him up."

Danica McKellar

During a recent appearance on "Good Morning America," actress turned math whiz Danica McKellar dished that she just stopped breastfeeding her son Draco. "I breastfed my child until he was two and a half," she said. "That was just, like, a few weeks ago that we stopped. Big transition. I just sensed that it was time that he needed to be a little more independent." But the "Wonder Years" star added that while working on her latest book, "Girls Get Curves: Geometry Takes Shape," she was able to type with one hand while nursing with the other. "When he was young, I had it mastered where I learned to type with one hand for a while … I like to say that the only type of formula I use is in a math book," she said.

Kelly Preston

When she was still breastfeeding son Benjamin at age 16 months, Kelly Preston told People , "When I stop, it's going to be really hard on me. I love nursing so much. I love the closeness and knowing that I'm giving him the best as far as nutrients and antibodies. And he really loves it, too. He'll come up and point and go, 'Mama, more!' It's so cute!" But last fall the actress revealed she was weaning her son at 23 months -- right around the time she turned the big 5-0.
