(Selena Gomez)

In an interview with Nylon Magazine, Selena Gomez revealed that she turns to Taylor Swift for relationship advice.

"We both experienced the same things at the same time. But we've never once talked about our industry. She just became the person I'd go to for an issue with my family or boyfriend. It's so hard to trust girls, so I'm lucky to have her."

It's true that they've experienced some of the same things at the same time. They're both coming off a high-profile breakup (then again, Taylor always seems to be coming off a breakup). And they even have a few exes in common, including Taylor Lautner and Cory Monteith.

Still, given her track record, Swift might not be the best person to turn to for relationship advice. Here's a look at a few young women Selena could consider turning to instead.

Carrie Underwood

Unlike Taylor, Carrie is one country singer who could offer a healthy perspective on love. She's had a few relationships that didn't work out, but she was able to learn and grow from the experiences.

As she told Us Weekly, "I had my share of loves gone wrong. But I couldn't ask for a better husband and best friend. I'm finally happy in love, so there's a reason some things don't work out. At the time, it seems like the world is ending, but then something great comes out of it and you realize everyone ended up exactly where they belong."

And while Taylor seems to be in love with the idea of being in love, Carrie knows how to have a life outside her relationship.

"We don't bring our work home with us very often. Because we're so busy, we make our time together count, like by going on date nights. And while we love being together, we also realize time apart is important, so we try not to crowd each other. I love a good girls' night out just like he loves hanging out with his friends."

Miley Cyrus

Last month, a post by E! News correspondent, Ken Baker, sparked a Twitter war between fans of Miley and fans of Taylor.

As Baker pointed out, Miley "is called a slut or a b. everyday, has been with the same guy for more than three years and is engaged to him." Taylor "is called sweet, elegant, and inspirational, has been with more than 13 guys for the past three years."

While there is nothing wrong with playing the field, it all seems a bit dishonest because she tries to portray some goody-goody America's sweetheart image.

Meanwhile, Miley may be a wild child, but she owns it. And she doesn't let it interfere with her ability to show up for work, do her job, or maintain a serious relationship.

Demi Lovato

Demi's had her share of personal troubles, as well as tumultuous relationships, including her high-profile breakup with Joe Jonas, and her off-again-on-again relationship with Wilmer Valderrama.

Still, what Demi has going for her is self-awareness. She knows that she could benefit from being single right now.

When asked about Niall Horan, she responded, "He's a really awesome, sweet guy but he's not my boyfriend...I'm in a place right now where I really need to focus on myself. Obviously, I'm still going to like people-or love them-but I need to not be in a relationship for a while because I need to be OK with being alone, first."
