Selena Gomez Gets Totes Emosh As She Accepts Ultimate Teen Choice Award

Selena Gomez proved that she doesn't need on-again, off-again, currently-off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber as she was honoured with the Ultimate Choice Award at the Teen Choice Awards last night.

The 22-year-old singer/ actress/ all-round hottie got emotional as she became the youngest ever recipient of the coveted surfboard that has previously been won by the likes of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher.

Following a video montage of all of Selena's achievements that was played to the screaming crowd (and frankly made us feel like underachievers) the 'Come & Get It' singer took to the stage in a simple, black jumpsuit and gushed:

"Thank you so much! I have to be honest - especially this month - I cannot thank you guys enough. You remind me, amidst all the stuff that we deal with personally, what's important, and that's giving and loving and caring about each other.

"I'm not trying to preach or any of that. It's just that you guys make me better, and I just really appreciate everything that you've done"

Hang on a minute, isn't there something missing from the token award acceptance speech?

"I want to thank my mom so much,"

Ah there it is!

"Because she's the greatest human being in the world, and she's strong and she's given up her life for me. She's so beautiful, she's incredible. This never belongs to me. This only goes to you. Thank you for letting me do what I love."

After yet another split from Justin Bieber earlier this year, Selena recently celebrated her 22nd birthday with her new BFF, and everybody's favourite model, Cara Delevigne.

She then proved that she was well and truly over the Biebs as she cozied up to hunky Italian playboy Tommaso Chiabra in St. Tropez and consequently made all of us very, very jealous!

So, with her arms around this Italian hunk and her hands on the Ultimate Choice Award, which basically proves that everybody loves her, it continues to be undeniable that Selena is trumping Justin in the battle of the exes!
