Say whaaaaaat!? Ryan Gosling, star of movies like "Drive" and "Crazy, Stupid, Love" was originally told by "The Notebook" director Nick Cassavetes that the reason he picked Gosling to play his famous role as Noah was because he wasn't good looking. Uh, hello Mr. Director Man have you SEEN this man's abs? We beg to differ.
The actor chatted with British magazine Company recently and talked about his past in Hollywood.
"The director, Nick Cassavetes, called me to meet him at his house," Gosling said. "When I got there, he was standing in his back yard, and he looked at me and said, 'I want you to play this role because you're not like the other young actors out there in Hollywood. You're not handsome, you're not cool, you're just a regular guy who looks a bit nuts."
Gosling, a native from Canada, got his start in Hollywood by being a former Disney star with other mega hotties like Justin Timberlake. After his role in "The Notebook" Gosling went on to star in other films including "Blue Valentine" and this year's "Ides of March" among other fan favorites.
Cassavetes might not think Gosling is attractive but we sure do. We pick our favorite looks from the chiseled star of the past year.
"Ides of March" Red Carpet
At the end of September the actor showed up to the red carpet premiere for his movie "Ides of March" looking absolutely dashing in a custom-made, forest green Gucci suit, white shirt, and striped tie. We love Gosling for his killer fashion sense and this was one of his best looks for fall.
No one looks better in vintage clothing than Mr. Gosling. He was spotted this year on the set of "Gangster Squad" with co-star Emma Stone on the set of their new movie in a 1940's inspired outfit walking a super cute dog. This period styled clothing makes the star absolutely swoonworthy. Do you like Ryan's old fashioned look?
Bleached and Rugged
Yum! Who doesn't love Ryan showing off his muscles? In July the star was spotted with bleached hair in a cut off t-shirt riding a motorcycle with arms that look more like tree trunks. The look isn't usual for the actor but he was cruising around the set of his movie "The Place Beyond the Pines." We can't say we're crazy for his pants but for Ryan, we can deal with it.
"Crazy, Stupid, Love" Premiere
When Ryan showed up to the red carpet premiere of his summer 2011 movie "Crazy, Stupid, Love" audiences couldn't stop staring as the actor looked more handsome than usual. The hunky babe wore a Gucci suit from the designer's Spring 2012 collection. Not only is he handsome but he's fashionable as well. We love that about any man but Mr. Gosling pulls it off the best.
