Ryan Gosling is officially the favorite for the role of Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey" - at least in the minds of bookies.
Oddsmakers have given "The Notebook" star a 2/1 shot at getting cast as the billionaire who seduces a college student to his Red Room of Pain, while "The Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder was only given 5/1 odds. "Black Swan" beauty Mila Kunis was the favorite for the role of Christian's student sex slave Anastasia Steele at 3/1.
Apparently Robert Pattinson's feelings were just a little bit hurt at not being made the favorite to play Christian Grey, because he seemed to be out to prove that he's raunchy enough for the role during an interview at Comic-Con. Kristen Stewart made it known that she's not the biggest "Fifty Shades of Grey" fan by labeling the idea of a book club based on the erotic novel "disgusting," but Rob apparently enjoys the raunchy read so much that he wants to get physical with the book itself - he said that he would "just sit there and lick the pages" instead of bothering to discuss the deeper meaning of Christian's love of whips, chains, and nipple clamps.
Perhaps he'd enjoy a little steak sauce with his "mommy porn." Last month a British man got so upset with his girlfriend reading the naughty novel that he squirted her in the face with some steak sauce. There's no word on if she licked it off the pages, but surely she wasn't happy about getting treated like a piece of meat. This story almost sounds like the beginning of another really bad erotic novel: "Heinz 57 Shades of Grey Poupon."
Unfortunately for Rob, no amount of seductively licking steak sauce off of the pages of "Fifty Shades of Grey" will help him win a role in the movie - author E.L. James has already said that she doesn't want K-Stew and R-Patz to play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey because it would just be "too strange." However, during her Comic-Con appearance, James said this about how "Twilight" inspired her to write her much-maligned literary masterpiece: "I don't think I've ever been swept up in something like I was swept up with that. I read them and reread them and reread them, and then I sat down and wrote a novel." It will only be a matter of time before her book inspires the next great novel with a fiercely loyal group of female fans.
James hasn't revealed who her pick to play Christian Grey is, but perhaps she'll consider Channing Tatum - the "Magic Mike" said that he would be interested in the part if his wife Jenna Dewan could play Anastasia Steele. But unfortunately he doesn't look much like this Christian composite sketch that reveals the perfect man for the role. The fictional Fifty has features from Channing, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Chris Hemsworth, and Val Kilmer, but it looks more like "Home Improvement" heartthrob Jonathan Taylor Thomas all grown up. It could also pass for a picture of Doug Pitt, Brad Pitt's lookalike brother.
So do you think that Ryan Gosling or Channing Tatum would be the perfect Christian, or are you upset that R-Patz is out of the running? And what do you think of the composite sketch?
