The comedian who became a household name as a TV alien who visits earth to study human behavior may have learned something about human relationships in real life. After two failed marriages, Robin Williams rolled the dice this weekend and wed wife number three.

The zany comedian's first two marriages were mired in controversy. The "Mrs. Doubtfire" star divorced wife number one, Valerie Velardi, to marry his son's nanny, Marsha Garces, with whom he had two more children and produced many successful movies. After 19 years, the second marriage also fizzled, but Williams did not have to fend for himself very long. The "Patch Adams" star reportedly started dating his brand new bride Susan Schneider about four years ago, around the same time he divorced wife number two.

Williams is not the only celeb who has tried to hit a home run his third time at bat. These A-listers have also attempted the long ball three times:

Tom Cruise: Now married to "Dawson's Creek" hottie Katie Holmes (a.k.a. Suri's mom), Cruise was hitched twice before. His first marriage was to actress Mamie Rogers, who allegedly introduced the toothpaste-smiled actor to the church of scientology. Whether it was because they could not have a child or grew apart, Rogers hinted their libido gap played a role in the couple's divorce. ''Tom was seriously thinking of becoming a monk," she said in a Playboy interview. "He thought he had to be celibate to maintain the purity of his instrument." Though she may have been joking, related rumors that Cruise could possibly be gay were revived this year when Ricky Gervais made a joke at the Golden Globes whose punch line involved two heterosexual scientologists who pretended not to be gay.

The "Jerry Maguire" actor's second marriage was to redheaded Aussie actress Nicole Kidman, with whom he adopted two children. The couple had no pre-nup, a factor that came into play when Cruise ended the marriage after nine years and 11 months. (California judges give spouses a bigger piece of the pie if a marriage lasts for 10 years.)

Demi Moore: With marriage number three reportedly on the rocks due to infidelity rumors, actress Demi Moore could end up competing with Elizabeth Taylor for Hollywood's multiple marriage record. The "Ghost" actress's first marriage was to singer Freddy Moore, whose name the actress retained professionally throughout her career.

It was Moore's second marriage to "Moonlighting" actor Bruce Willis that made her Hollywood royalty. The couple had three daughters -- Rumer, Scout and Tallulah -- and became the poster parents for divorced celebrities after they split. Not only did Moore and her third hubbie Ashton Kutcher vacation with Willis and his women, they were invited to his intimate island wedding to model Emma Heming in 2009.

Ironically, the "Indecent Proposal" actress has taken a lot of ribbing for marrying a man 15 years her junior, an age gap that is barely commented on when it is the man who is the December in a May-December romance.
