Adrienne Maloof

To hear Faye Resnick tell it, the reason Adrienne Maloof's marriage to Paul Nassif went south was the stress of coping with a secret blurted out by co-star Brandi Glanville during an episode of this season's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills." The ex-wife of Eddie Cibrian allegedly said that a surrogate mother gave birth to Adrienne's twins, a statement that was censored by Bravo when the show first aired but later confirmed by Maloof in a January interview with Life & Style magazine.

When the couple's separation was announced on Monday night's episode of the reality TV show, the self-proclaimed bestie of O.J. Simpson's murdered wife Nicole Brown Simpson blamed Blabby -- er, Brandi, for driving a wedge between the nagging housewife and her teddy bear husband. "Do you feel good about yourself, breaking up a family?" she accused the mother of two, interrupting her chatty threesome with Yolanda Foster and Marisa Zanuck. "You put them through hell."

Even Maloof blamed the leggy blonde, who was born without an edit button, accusing her of not only revealing a personal family secret, but also sending text messages to her husband. "I believe getting close to Paul is a ploy on Brandi's part to make herself more relevant," she told a reporter. "I feel the sudden friendship with him was thought out and vindictive."

But isn't blaming the new red carpet fashion reporter's big mouth and busy thumbs for wrecking the couple's marriage like blaming an umbrella for the rain? Fans of the show saw numerous scenes over the past three seasons of the New Mexico native needling her husband about everything from soup to nuts. In recent episodes, she chided Nassif for not fleeing with her and their sons after the house across the street caught on fire, and she accused him of seeking attention when he tried to surprise her by dressing up like a tree to help promote her new vodka business.

Meanwhile, in a video clip from last season dubbed "Return of the Bickersons," the busty beer heiress humiliated her husband as he attempted to open a bottle of champagne, commanding him to "Sit down!" and "Stop it!" in front of their embarrassed friends, who looked like they wanted to hide under their salad plates. Unless the clip was dramatically edited by Bravo, viewers could not figure out why the scalpel jock was being scolded like a naughty pet.

Maloof, who is currently dating Rod Stewart's son Sean, will not return to the show next year so it's possible Resnick wants to grab her spot. Stirring the pot over Glanville's role in her friend's divorce may not pass the truthiness test, but the accusation makes for good drama and could help the former Playboy model graduate from "friend of" status to RHOBH regular.
