Paula Abdul Coming to 'Dancing With the Stars'

Justin Bieber Responds To Racist Joke Video: 'I'm Very Sorry'

Paula Abdul has already judged aspiring singers for several years, and now she's moving on to dancing. The former American Idol and X Factor judge will join Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli as a guest judge on Dancing with the Stars.

Abdul, who started her career as a Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader and later choreographed for the likes of Janet Jackson, will appear on the ABC show on Oct. 15th, Us Weekly confirms. "I've been such fan since season one, and I was fortunate enough to be a part of Idol next door," she says. The Idol soundstage is next to the DWTS space. "During commercial breaks I'd run over here and catch what was going on with this show and then run back to my seat. It's been a decade-plus, and they're like an extended family. I'm really excited."

This season of the dancing competition series is a bit different as contestants have already been on prior shows. "It's more difficult because the talent is so good this season," Abdul, 50, says. "You get carried away watching something you're so passionate about."

As for what she'll bring to the judges' table, she tells Us, "For me, I'm bringing a different perspective as someone who's had the blessing of growing up with dance and music and having a career in dance. So I'm going to strictly judge them on how [a routine] moves me."

What do you think? Is Abdul more qualified to judge dancing or singing?
