'Parks & Rec' Web Spinoff is Really Happening

For the stars and writers of Parks and Recreation there really is truth in jest. A longstanding inside joke born on the set of the NBC comedy is becoming a reality.

According to The Huffington Post, Philly Justice, a fake legal procedural that the Parks and Rec cast jokes was shot in 2003, will be featured as a web series on FunnyOrDie.

The gag started when someone took a picture of the cast on the steps of a courthouse. When the actors noticed that the photo looked like a poster for a legal drama, they were off and running with a backstory that is now literally taking on a life of its own.

According to the legend, the original cast included Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, Rashida Jones, Kathryn Hahn and Paul Rudd, but Paul was later replaced by Dermot Mulroney, who was replaced by Dylan McDermott.

Dylan tweeted the news yesterday, writing, "Philly Justice! Coming soon on FunnyOrDie!."

Parks and Recreation airs Thursdays at 9:30/8:30c on NBC.
