Paris Hilton says gay men are 'disgusting' in secretly recorded conversation

Paris Hilton, who was regularly in the headlines just a few years ago but has since faded from the spotlight, has resurfaced! However, this is one time that the media-loving Hilton is not enjoying all the attention. TMZ is reporting that the 31-year-old said derogatory things about gay men during a cab ride on September 7 in NYC. Hilton was secretly recorded by the cab driver while she was talking to a friend ... who happened to be a gay man. "Gay guys are the horniest people in the world," Hilton is heard saying on the recording, which was released by Radar Online. "They're disgusting." When talking about the app Grindr, where gay men connect with other gay men, often in search of sex, Hilton said, "Dude, most of them probably have AIDS. I would be so scared if I was a gay guy ... you'll like die of AIDS."

In response, Hilton's rep gave a lengthy statement explaining that her words were taken out of context. "Paris Hilton's comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease. The conversation became heated, after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride, a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex. He also discussed a website that encourages random sex by gay men with strangers. As she was being shown the website her comments were in reference to those people promoting themselves on the site. The cab driver who recorded this, only provided a portion of the conversation. It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays. Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone's sexual orientation."

GLAAD, an alliance of gay advocates, and AmfAR, the AIDS research foundation, were not immediately available for comment.

Hilton was in the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week, where, according to her Twitter account, she "had the most incredible time." Of course, she's famous for appearing in a sex tape with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon, which was released in 2003. Her first reality show, "The Simple Life" with Nicole Richie, came out the same year and was a hit, but her 2011 series called "The World According to Paris" was canceled due to low ratings.
