Who were the best dressed women at the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards?
Awards season is as much about the fashion as the winners. At the Golden Globes the real show was on the red carpet. The at-home fashion police had a challenge this year as the stars seemed to bring it.
One might expect the younger divas to rule the night when it comes to style at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's big night -- and they did!
Jessica Alba was resplendent in a peach Old Hollywood style reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. The Oscar de la Renta fan also wore $5.8 million dollars in diamonds around her neck. "Best Supporting Actress" Anne Hathaway was a winner onstage and off in a simple white Chanel look. Jennifer Lawrence, who blurted out, "I beat Meryl," wore a classic red Christian Dior stunner with a sleek black belt.
Red was in fact the color trend of the evening in all shades. In addition to the "Silver Linings Playbook" star, Amy Poehler, Claire Danes, Zooey Deschanel, Alison Pill, Melissa Rauch, Naomi Watts and Megan Hilty and were all ladies in red. There were dresses in crimson, ruby, rose and wine. Several stars such as Katharine McPhee picked up on the Angelina Jolie fashion split. Fishtail gowns were also a classy trend.
Who owned the night? There were fashion misses among the young. Taylor Swift opted for a matronly dark burgundy gown in satin. The look overpowered her delicate frame and seemed more appropriate for the mother of a bride.
So while the young stars were lovely, the fashion risk-takers were all seasoned. The biggest fashion winners this year are the 40-something year old divas.

J-Lo, 43, rocked a Zuhair Murad gown with Pomellato jewels. Her long-sleeved dress was reminiscent of Kate Middleton's wedding gown. It also seemed a nod to her previous skin colored bodysuits in ivory lace, embroidery and beads. The gown was a curve hugger for the Puerto Rican belle and accentuated her bodacious backside.
As usual, Berry was a beauty. The Academy Award winner wore Atelier Versace Fall 2012 in shades of peach and pink. The dress featured an abstract artistic pattern that she modeled with the classic Jolie leg pose on the red carpet. At age 46, Halle's toned body was the fashion star and distracted from her recent family troubles.
The "New Normal" star was lovely in Carolina Herrera. NeNe looked movie star glam and was celebrating her one million twitter followers with the simple and elegant black and white look. The 46-year-old reality star appeared "all grown up" in her platinum blonde 'do that undoubtedly made the Bravolebrity exclaim, "Bloop!"
Has anyone ever seen Sofia look bad? Seriously, with her exuberance she could make the proverbial paper bag a stunner. Skipping the trends Sofia, 40, went for a black sequined gown. Her look was hand-created by Dubai-based Filipino designer, Michael Cinco. "I made it specially for her," Cinco explained. "It involved 200 hours of embroidery and beadwork with tailoring and finishing."
At age 44 Lucy Liu looks almost 20 years younger. The actress took a fashion risk with her Carolina Herrera Pre-Fall 2013 ball gown. The surprising floral print danced across a baby blue gown. Liu looked ready for a fab 1950's tea party. The looks was made modern with her hair in a loose "Hunger Games" braid.
The Real Deal
With Tina Fey and Amy hosting and Jodie Foster's big speech it was a night for the grown up girls.
So, what do you think? Who ruled the red carpet?
