No Dramamine Required for New 'Bourne'
"There was never just one." That's the tagline for The Bourne Legacy, the new entry on the Bourne series with Jeremy Renner taking on the mantle from Matt Damon as the next rogue assassin from the Treadstone Project. Get a first look at Renner opposite the film's antagonist Edward Norton in a scene from the action-thriller (courtesy of MTV), which director Tony Gilroy says will be different from its predecessors "for a whole bunch of reasons."

With The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, the spy franchise became influential for the signature shaky-cam employed by director Paul Greengrass. While the technique clearly ratcheted up the tension for moviegoers, many complained that it simply gave them motion sickness. Now, Gilroy -- who penned the screenplays for first three installments -- tells MTV that the shaky-cam style has been done to death, and the new movie has new tricks up its sleeve.
"Everybody in the world ripped us off," says Gilroy. "[That style] been done to death at this point. [The style is] on TV three nights a week, much less Bond and everything else. The worst thing that could have been done would be to just slavishly follow some cookie-cutter pattern of visual style and storytelling style. [The Bourne Legacy] is a bigger movie in the terms of the journey of it and the scale of it and the amount of stories in it and where it's going."

Also starring Rachel Weisz, Oscar Isaac, Stacy Keach, Corey Stoll alongside returning originals David Strathairn, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn and Albert Finney, The Bourne Legacy hits theaters August 3.
