As Mother's Day approaches, residents of Tinseltown are gearing up to honor Hollywood's moms. While a number of young celebs are new or expectant mothers, there are plenty of veteran stars to remember on Mother's Day. Here's a look at some actress moms who have passed the torch - and their acting genes - to their daughters who are following in their footsteps.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow paid homage to her late father in her new cookbook, but she became an actress like her mother, Blythe Danner. Danner was married to Gwen's father, producer Bruce Paltrow, from 1969 to 2002, when he died of cancer. A blonde like her daughter, Blythe is well known for her portrayal of Dina Byrnes in the "Meet the Parents" movies, including last year's "Little Fockers."

Writer and actress Carrie Fisher will forever be known as Princess Leia from "Star Wars." Decades earlier, Fisher's mom, Debbie Reynolds, took on an iconic role of her own as Gene Kelly's partner in "Singin in the Rain." More recently, Reynolds had a recurring role on the sitcom "Will & Grace," and will appear in the film "One for the Money" later this year.

Expectant mom Kate Hudson inherited her blonde hair and beautiful smile from her mother, Goldie Hawn. Goldie won an Oscar in 1970 for her role in "Cactus Flower," and was nominated again in 1980 for her role in "Private Benjamin." Hawn has most recently appeared in "The Banger Sisters" with Susan Sarandon, but we're guessing that these days she's looking forward to being a grandma again!

Anyone who's seen the "Halloween" movies knows that Jamie Lee Curtis can scream. Anyone who's seen the Hitchcock thriller "Psycho" knows that Jamie Lee's mother, Janet Leigh, can scream even louder. Leigh's iconic scene where she is stabbed to death in the shower landed her a Golden Globe award and an Academy Award nomination. She went on to enjoy a lengthy career before passing away in 2004.

Actress Laura Dern has collaborated with her mom, Diane Ladd, on more than one project. Diane played Laura's mother in the 1990 film "Wild at Heart," for which Ladd earned an Academy Award nomination. The following year they starred together in "Rambling Rose," and became the first ever mother-daughter team to score Oscar nominations in the same year for the same film. They have since appeared in three more films together.

Years before Melanie Griffith received her Golden Globe, her mother Tippi Hedren received one for her performance in Hitchcock's film, "The Birds." Hedron starred in another Hitchcock film, "Marnie," a year later. In 2003 Hedren received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, and she appeared in the 2004 hit film "I Heart Huckabees."
