Fan reaction: Portland Trail Blazers embarrassed by Sacramento Kings at home

If the impressive "Mission Impossible IV" cast is any indication of how well the film will do at the box office, then we feel safe declaring "Mission Impossible IV" a hit even before it is finished filming. Writers J.J. Abrams and Josh Appelbaum are trying to breathe new life into a risky franchise that seemed to be heading in the wrong direction after the personal life of Tom Cruise was introduced to Oprah Winfrey. Now the fourth film in this series is already under production in Prague, and it looks like they are ramping up the star power similar to how the "Ocean's Eleven" movies worked with George Clooney and friends.

Instead of relying just on Tom Cruise to carry "Mission Impossible IV," the writers and director Brad Bird are hoping that a great ensemble cast will help drive up the box office. The ever-evolving cast attached to the film seems to grow more impressive by the week, and that includes the revelation that Lea Seydoux has now joined the cast. According to Yahoo! Movie News, Seydoux will play the lead female villain in the film. Seydoux was recently in Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood" as Isabella of Angouleme and "Inglourious Basterds" as the girl (Charlotte LaPadite) in the beginning of the film.

In addition to Cruise as Ethan Hunt and Seydoux, "Mission Impossible IV" includes Oscar-nominated Jeremy Renner, Ving Rhames, Josh Holloway ("LOST"), Paula Patton ("Precious") and Michael Nyqvist ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "The Girl Who Played with Fire"). Nyqvist is going to play another one of the villains, and will probably lend a lot of weight to the character. He might be tough to compare to Philip Seymour Hoffman though, who in "Mission Impossible III" portrayed one of the best on-screen villains that we have seen in awhile. It doesn't look like Michelle Monaghan is returning to the film (Hunt's former girlfriend), so this could be a revenge picture.

Putting Holloway in the film is definitely a smart move, as he seems destined to work in action films like this. It is no small surprise that he will be involved in another J.J. Abrams project either, and maybe this will really jump-start his career in movies. It's also intriguing to see Renner's name attached to the film, because his acting talents have really started to show themselves on screen lately ("Hurt Locker," "The Town"). The "Mission Impossible IV" release date isn't until Dec. 16, 2011, so there is still a lot of time for them to get the filming and action sequences completed. Still, it is never too early to get excited about a great ensemble cast like this one coming together.
