There are quite a few celebrity-athlete couples these days, but not all of them have gone on to show the world just how successful their relationships are by showing them off on reality shows. And we can roll are eyes all we want, but Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett, Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, and Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are all still going strong after allowing their love lives to be televised.
The latest celebrity-athlete couple to split up, Minka Kelly and Derek Jeter, didn't need a reality show to showcase their love, but perhaps their busy schedules just got in the way of their relationship -- the "Charlie's Angels" actress and the Yankees shortstop are amicably breaking up after three years together. And don't be surprised if Alex Rodriguez dumps another of Charlie's Angels after hearing the news -- Derek's popcorn-munching pal just might give up Cameron Diaz to enjoy playing the field with his best baseball bud.
And in another friendly celebrity-athlete breakup, Hayden Panettiere must have gotten tired of standing in her boxer boyfriend's shadow (literally) -- she and her giant Ukrainian man, Wladmir Klitschko, called it quits in May after two years of dating. Living on two different continents definitely contributed to their relationship's demise.
But while Hayden and Wladmir both seemed happy with their decision to breakup, poor Kristin Cavallari probably wasn't on the same page as fiance Jay Cutler. The "Laguna Beach" star and the Chicago Bears quarterback called off their wedding in July, with sources stating that Jay wasn't happy that Kristin refused to quit her high-profile career (she still has one?). The reality show star was devastated, but at least Jay took to Facebook to defend her honor, telling fans not to talk bad about his ex (evidently Chicago Bears fans feared that Kristin would be a curse on Cutler, much like Jessica Simpson supposedly was on Tony Romo).
Sadly, the demise of one of the most beloved celebrity-athlete couples was made official in January of this year. However, while Eva Longoria had to be devastated to end her three-year marriage to Tony Parker, she hasn't wasted any time moving on with her life -- she's replaced him with a much younger model in Penelope Cruz' little brother Eduardo (whom she's a decade older than).
So which celebrity-athlete couple will call it quits next? My money's still on Cameron and A-Rod, but you can place your bets in the comments.
