Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Engaged: Other Couples Who Met on Set

Yahoo Contributor Network

The engagement probably shouldn't be a surprise. Miley Cyrus has been jolting us from the moment she hit the stage. But this time she sort of shocked us with news of her engagement to 22-year-old hunk Liam Hemsworth, who apparently popped the question May 31st. The lovebirds met in 2009 on the set of "The Last Song."

"…when you're filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you're not human if you don't feel something."

In interview with Details magazine, he revealed this little morsel about how things began with the Disney star. And in Hollywood, this kind of romance apparently runs rampant. Here are a few other famous couples that found true love on the set.

Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann

If you don't know this director's name by now, the proverbial rock you've been living under must be airtight. That's because this name is attached to some of the decade's funniest films. Judd Apatow's brand of comedy has created a new kind of "brat pack" in Hollywood; his wife since 1997, Leslie Mann, happens to be a long-standing member of this new pack. These two (who met on the set of "The Cable Guy") are proof that it can work for the long haul.

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott met on the set of Lifetime movie "Mind over Murder." These two had somewhat of a rocky start due to the fact that both were married when they began their romance. Many didn't have high hopes for this couple. Some perhaps even thought they wouldn't last a year. But alas, a trio of children (and one on the way) and a few reality show seasons later, Tori and Dean appear to be going strong.

Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez

The woman who swore that she would never again get married apparently got swept up in the tide that is the dreamy Olivier Martinez. Meeting on the set of indie thriller "Dark Tide", they ducked rumors for quite a while. But Berry, who has a daughter with ex Gabriel Aubrey, accepted Olivier's proposal and plans a move to France.

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer

Perhaps one of the most popular on-set couples is this "True Blood" pair. The two met during the horror show's pilot in 2007, and are currently expecting their first child. Anna Paquin---one of Hollywood's little darlings for many years, turned a few heads by hooking up with her TV vampire beau. But she and Stephen's steamy on screen exchanges were probably destined to spill over into real life.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

After much ado in the press, Brad Pitt ultimately admitted that he fell in love with Angelina Jolie on the set of their action flick, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Several hundred tabloid covers, and six children later they decided to make their union official.

Whether a Hollywood couple's relationship evokes whirlwinds of press or mere whimpers makes no difference where romance on the set is concerned. In any event, many might agree that falling in love during intense filming seems inevitable. Holding those romances together afterwords is what takes a bit of work.
