Miley Cyrus & Celebs Who Rescue Animals in Their Spare Time

Miley Cyrus has a new hobby - besides Pilates, of course. The "LOL" actress is really getting into animal rescue -- and she recently saved her first little puppy from a dark life.

"He was left in a box in front of WalMart. I don't understand how people can be so cruel," Cyrus tweeted, along with a picture of the tiny puppy she named Happy. "We're not 100% [sure] the breed we think Rottweiler Beagle mix :)."

Happy joins three other dogs in Cyrus' happy animal family: Ziggy, Lila and Floyd.

It's easy to see that she's smitten with the little doggie.

"There's times when I think we don't rescue them but they save us. He brings so much [love] into my life. We r BOTH so grateful," the 19-year-old tweeted, along with more pictures of the adorable pup.

"Happy is literally the cutest sweetest thing in the entire world! i haven't put him down since we rescued him!"

Cyrus isn't the only celeb who gets into animal rescue.

Nikki Reed and Drew Barrymore

"Twlight" actress Nikki Reed isn't ready for real babies with husband Paul McDonald, but she is more than willing to raise some dogs as a foster mom. Reed recently fostered a litter of pups for animal rescuer Shannon von Roemer, owner of Bark N' Bitches.

"Just gave the puppies to their next foster mommy. My heart hurts," Reed tweeted after she gave up the puppies.

One of the puppies was then adopted by another actress: Drew Barrymore. The engaged actress adopted one of the male dogs, a little furball named Biscuit.

"I know they were interested in the little boy puppy all along, but they wanted to come in and get a sense of the dog's personality and make sure it would get along with their other dog," Roemer said. Lucky for Biscuit, they fell in love and took him home.

Carrie Underwood

Singer Carrie Underwood is known for her love of animals - she went vegan because of her love of animals and has two dogs of her own, Ace and Penny. She even plays animal rescuer whenever she can. Case in point? She saved a Lab mix from a highway median while traveling between Tennessee and her home state of Oklahoma. It all started when she saw two dogs, though one was, sadly, already deceased. Underwood took the other one home, named her Stella and got her cleaned up.

"She follows me around from room to room. She's the best Lab I've ever been around!" she tweeted the next day.

The dog was later adopted by a neighbor, but Underwood made sure she could come visit from time to time.

"I cried when [Stella] walked out the door," she wrote on her fan club website.. "[My husband] told me not to be a crazy ex-girlfriend about it and stalk them ... I can't help it! She deserves the best life ever!"
