Swimmer Michael Phelps has the most gold medals (14) in Olympics history.

Michael Phelps may be nursing a broken heart.

The Olympian has reportedly split from his model girlfriend, Megan Rossee. The beautiful blond was first spotted on the arm of her favorite swimmer during the Summer Olympics in London in August 2012.

The couple were last spotted together at an event for the National Aquarium on December 27. The organization posted a photo that evening on Twitter with the caption , "Thanks again to @MichaelPhelps and @meganrossee for visiting us tonight! Our boys loved the extra play time.

A few days later the swimming star tweeted the cryptic message, "Things happen for a reason. #notme."

Rossee responded with an odd photo stating, "A woman's loyalty is tested when her man has nothing. A man's loyalty is tested when he has everything."

With the news that their relationship is sunk, the superstar swimmer joins a growing group of sports stars who have called game over on their relationships in recent months. Here are some of the celebrities who have thrown in the towel on their love match:

Tim Tebow and Camilla Belle: He not only lost out on his shot to be the starting quarterback for the New York Jets last month, but the celebrity quarterback got sacked by his lady love just in time for the holidays. After only two months of dating, the actress and the second stringer decided that they weren't going to score a touchdown with their relationship and called it game over.

Danica Patrick and Paul Hospenthal: The relationship of the racing superstar and her husband of seven years hit the skids in November 2012. It came as a shock to many racing fans when she announced the news of the split on her Facebook page writing, "I am sad to inform my fans that after seven years, Paul and I have decided to amicably end our marriage. This isn't easy, but mutually it has come to this. He has been an important person and friend in my life and that's how we will remain moving forward."

Jenny McCarthy and Brian Urlacher: The former "Singled Out" host headed back onto the dating market after splitting with the Chicago Bears linebacker in August. Despite only dating for a few months, the blond bombshell decided to relegate the NFL star to "friend" status when she announced, "We have decided to turn our romance into an amazing friendship. I will continue to be the biggest cheerleader for him."
