Celebrities put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into their "Dancing With the Stars" performances - figuratively, of course. However, the show certainly has the potential for serious injury. Contestant Melissa Rycroft found that out over the weekend when she suffered a head injury while practicing for Monday night's show.

Rycroft, 29, was taken to a Los Angeles hospital with both head and neck injuries stemming from a slip-up during rehearsal, her rep told People.

"Melissa was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she is currently being examined," the rep said. "She was accompanied to the hospital by her husband, Tye Strickland, and her dance partner, Tony Dovolani. Everyone is taking all necessary precautions at this time."

It sounded really serious, though luckily Rycroft is now out of the hospital. Her status for Monday night is questionable, though a tweet sent this morning seems to indicate she won't be dancing.

"Still seeing and talking to doctors this morning, will give more details soon, but thanks for your love!" she tweeted Monday morning.

We're happy she's okay! Sadly, she's not the only one to suffer serious injuries while on the show. William Levy, Marie Osmond and these celebs have all nursed injuries during "DWTS."

Jennifer Grey

Jennifer Grey managed to take home the mirrorball trophy during her stint on "Dancing With the Stars, but it wasn't without serious consequences The actress aggravated an old car accident injury on the show. The result? She had to have surgery last year to fix her back.

"It's just going be like a little surgery where they take out the ruptured disc thing, and you know, it won't be a big deal," she said of the 2011 surgery. "Compared to the other surgeries I had on my neck, my doctor says it won't be a big deal. I'll be home that night."

Grey's been through a lot health-wise - she also had her thyroid removed after a bout with cancer.

Kym Johnson

Pro dancer Kym Johnson managed to power through a serious neck injury to help Hines Ward nab the mirrorball trophy in 2011. The blond stunner had to go to the hospital but was eventually cleared to dance.

"After several tests, she was cleared by the medical staff, though she is bruised, sore and currently wearing a neck brace," the show said in a statement. "Kym plans to continue with Hines Ward in the competition and resume rehearsals as soon as possible."

Stay safe, dancers! No trophy is worth a lifetime of pain.

Do you think Melissa Rycroft should stay on "Dancing With the Stars"?
