Mel Gibson Won’t Be Charged for Shoving News Corp. Photographer

Mel Gibson won’t be charged for an incident in which he allegedly shoved a News Corp. Australia photographer last month, according to the actor’s lawyer.

“Police have completed a thorough investigation of allegations made by a Sydney photographer and have concluded there is no evidence to substantiate any charge against my client Mel Gibson,” the actor’s attorney Christopher Murphy told People Wednesday.

The “Lethal Weapon” star was accused of physically attacking a female photographer when she attempted to snap pictures of him in Sydney, Australia.

“I thought he was going to punch me in the face,” Kristi Miller told News Corp. tabloid The Daily Telegraph after the Aug. 24 incident. “He was spitting in my face as he was yelling at me, calling me a dog, saying I’m not even a human being and I will go to Hell. He swore and called me a c–t. It was non-stop — he didn’t even breathe.”

Gibson’s publicist, Alan Nierob, released a statement at the time denying any “physical contact,” and laying the blame on Miller, who photographed Gibson and his date, Rosalind Ross, leaving the Palace Verona cinema.

Murphy added Wednesday that Gibson “totally denied from the onset that these disgraceful allegations were true. He is now satisfied that the police, after speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence, have found there is no substance to the claim,” he said, according to People.
