Martin Scorsese-Mick Jagger Rock ‘n’ Roll Project Gets Series Order From HBO

HBO is ready to rock ‘n’ roll with Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger.

The cable channel has given a series order to the drama project from Scorsese and Jagger, it was announced on Tuesday.

The as-yet-untitled series, which is set in 1970s New York, will explore the drug and sex fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all through the eyes of a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound.

Bobby Cannavale stars as Richie Finestra, the founder and president of top-tier record label American Century Records, who has a great ear for discovering talent, but undergoes a crisis of character when confronted with a life-altering decision.

Olivia Wilde will co-star as Richie's wife Devon, a former actress/model who previously lived a Bohemian life in 1960s New York. Richie's crisis causes strain on their family and propels her to re-immerse in her former lifestyle.

The cast also includes Ray Romano, Juno Temple, Andrew “Dice” Clay, Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, James Jagger and Jack Quaid, among others.

Scorsese and Jagger will executive produce the series, with the former directing the pilot episode. Terence Winter (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Boardwalk Empire”) will also executive produce, as well as serve as the series’ showrunner and writer.

Rick Yorn, Victoria Pearman, Emma Tillinger Koskoff and George Mastras are also executive producing, with Mastras (“Breaking Bad”) also writing.
