Is Maroon 5 Singer Adam Levine Becoming Overexposed?

Yahoo Contributor Network

It's fitting that Maroon 5's new album is called "Overexposed" because front man Adam Levine is certainly getting a lot of exposure lately - he can already be seen on TV, and it's extremely hard to avoid his band's earworm "Moves Like Jagger." He also gets plenty of attention because of his love life, and now he's following in the footsteps of Justin Timberlake by making the move from music to movies.

It might be a good thing that "The Voice" judge is continuing to explore other options since there's no telling how long that gig will last -- there are a lot of singing competitions competing for ratings, after all. He might even have to worry about his music since "Overexposed" has gotten some pretty rotten reviews. Entertainment Weekly writer Adam Markovitz certainly didn't mince words, criticizing the album's " horndog rhapsodies" and "bratty put-downs of some Everygirl who always disappoints." Ouch.

It's not surprising that some of Levine's lyrics make him seem like a "horndog" - the singer certainly loves the ladies, after all. Two months ago he split from his Victoria's Secret model girlfriend Anne V, and earlier this month he was spotted with another lingerie hanger named Behati Prinsloo. To add to his relationship drama, Anne and Behati are reportedly friends. But don't feel too sorry for Anne - now she might be hooking up with "True Blood" hottie Alexander Skarsgard. However, she better be careful since her new conquest seems to love the ladies just as much as Adam. And if Alexander moves on, maybe he'll explain his need to be with someone new the same way Adam did. Here's what the singer told Details about his love for the ladies: "Maybe the reason I was promiscuous, and wanted to sleep with a lot of them, is that I love them so much." Or here's an idea: Adam doesn't just write rhapsodies about being a horndog - he really is one!

Unfortunately for the sex-loving singer, not all members of the fairer sex fall for him immediately. According to Adam, he and "The Voice" judge Christina Aguilera had "a rough start" and "bickered a little bit" when they first started working on the show together. It can be difficult for two divas with big egos to get along, after all.

Perhaps Adam had better luck charming his "One More Night" music video costar Minka Kelly. Adam asked the sexy starlet to play his love interest, and surprisingly she doesn't spend the entire video in bed with him (she even leaves his boxer character!). Perhaps the video was all about the heartbreak he experienced when Anne V left him, meaning he'll get back to the bed now that he's dating Behati.

Adam will also get the chance to get impress the lovely Keira Knightley with his moves like Jagger in the movie "Can A Song Save Your Life?" He's gradually working his way into acting, so it's fitting that he plays a musician in the movie, as does Keira. He's also the only guy that can believably dump such a gorgeous girl in order to pursue becoming a big star.

Adam is also going to be doing some acting on the small screen after scoring a part on Ryan Murphy's creepy FX series "American Horror Story." Little has been revealed about his role except that he'll be playing one of "The Lovers" and that his character is "kind of a nod to contemporary sensibilities." The next season of the show will be set in an insane asylum during the 1960s, so it sounds like his character might be ahead of his time with his way of thinking (perhaps he'll be sexually liberated).

So are you excited about seeing Adam act, or has hearing "Moves Like Jagger" everywhere made you so sick of the singer that you don't want to see or hear any more of him?
