Stunning beauty and star of "Law & Order: SVU" Mariska Hargitay may need a bigger SUV since she just adopted a second child in just six months. In April Hargitay and her husband Peter Hermann gave their biological son a sister when they adopted their daughter Amaya Josephine. Now they've gone from a family of four to a family of five with the addition of son Andrew Nicolas. A source close to the family says that it was the experience of adopting Amaya that spurred Mariska and Peter to adopt again. "Their hearts were so opened by the [first] adoption. So they couldn't imagine not taking the opportunity to bring another baby into the family."
Mariska, who recently started the thirteenth season of "SVU" without her longtime partner, actor Chris Meloni, has quite a bit of company when it comes to celebrity moms with multiple adopted children. Of course the first celebrities that spring to mind when it comes to adopting multiple babies are Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The Pitt-Jolie household boasts six kids, half of whom have been adopted by the pair.
Then there's "Top Gun" and "Jerry Maguire" leading man Tom Cruise. We all know about little Suri, his daughter with Katie Holmes, but Cruise and his ex-wife Nicole Kidman adopted two children during their nearly eleven year marriage, Isabella and Connor. Sexy singer Sheryl Crow has adopted two sons as a single mom after her breakup with boyfriend, cyclist Lance Armstrong. The 49-year-old Crow adopted son Wyatt in 2007 and son Levi was adopted in 2010.
"Basic Instinct" bombshell Sharon Stone has actually adopted three sons, Quinn, Roan and Laird, though her divorce from Phil Bronstein got a little ugly and he was eventually awarded custody of Roan when a judge deemed that his home was better for their son during the school year. "Annie Hall" and "The Godfather" legend Diane Keaton has two adopted children, daughter Dexter and son Duke; Keaton has never been married.
"Nurse Jackie" and "Sopranos" powerhouse Edie Falco has also adopted two children. In 2004 she adopted a baby boy and in 2008 she added a baby girl to the mix. Adoption isn't just for the ladies, either. In 2008, singer Ricky Martin adopted his twin sons Valentino and Matteo after a surrogacy with an undisclosed woman. The "La Vida Loca" singer even credits his sons with inspiring him to come out of the closet and open about his life as a gay man.
