This summer has been filled with surprising celebrity breakups. Did anyone see J-Lo and Marc splitting? Or how about Mark Paul -Gosselaar saying goodbye to longtime love only to get engaged a few short months later. These stars definitely aren't alone! These other stars seemed like they were going to make it to the end, too. But while they all survived the seven year itch, they ultimately came to an untimely demise.

Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford - 16 years

They were one of Hollywood's most successful couples. He had found fame as Josh Lyman on "The West Wing" and had won the Emmy for the part in 2001. She had become a household name on "Malcolm in the Middle" and had earned seven Emmy nominations herself. But in 2009 the parents of three quietly called it quits after 16 years of marriage.

Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus - 17 Years

After filing for divorce from his wife of 17 years, Tish, country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus started to speak out. A couple of months after the split, their megastar daughter got into hot water when a photo of her smoking salvia from a bong surfaced. As any good dad would, Billy Ray took to Twitter to express his disappointment with the situation and then told People magazine article that their hit show "Hannah Montana" basically "destroyed my family."

George and Ann Lopez - 17 Years

In 2005 Ann Lopez took the "in sickness and in health" vow to a whole new level when she gave her husband George one of her kidneys. But ultimately the late night talk show host and his wife of 17 years couldn't fulfill the "'til death us do part" bit and called it quits.

Sebastian Bach and Maria Bierk - 18 Years

As 2011 kicked off, singer Sebastian Bach and Maria Bierk's 18-year marriage landed on Skid Row. Despite three kids ranging in age from three to 21, and reportedly working on their marriage for a while, the couple couldn't make it last. There's no word as to whether or not his arrest on assault and possession charges last year factored into the decision at all.

John and Elaine Irwin Mellencamp - 19 years

People were surprised back in 1991 when rocker John Mellencamp married supermodel Elaine Irwin. Not only was she 18 years younger than him, but they had only dated for 10 weeks. They managed to beat the odds for a long time, but ultimately filed for divorce last year. Not long after he was spotted with his new girlfriend, actress Meg Ryan.

Nancy Wilson and Cameron Crowe - 22 Years

They had been making beautiful music together for over 20 years, but in 2010 Heart superstar Nancy Wilson and director Cameron Crowe decided to end their marriage. Although there were no details as to why the relationship hit a flat note, she went with the old standard "irreconcilable differences" when filing the divorce papers.

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins - 23 Years

Although they never married, they might as well have. Outspoken celebrities Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins met on the set of "Bull Durham" in mid-'80s. Despite a 12 year age difference, sparks flew. Two sons, a coupe of Oscars and a whole lot of political activism later and the couple split in 2009.

Tony and Tracy Danza - 24 years

Maybe fans should have figured it out last year when Danza moved to Philadelphia to "Teach" high school kids English on his own reality show, leaving his family back in California. But according to the divorce papers he filed last week, the former "Who's the Boss" star and his wife of 24 years, Tracy, have been separated since 2006.

Mel Gibson and Robyn Moore - 28 years

Devoted fans were shocked back in 2009 to hear that then 53-year-old movie star Mel Gibson was dating 24-year-old Russian model and singer Oksana Popchepa. What they didn't know was that the father of seven and his wife, Robyn Moore, had been separated for a long time. She filed for divorce later that year, and that's when Gibson's troubles really started.

John and Elizabeth Edwards - 32 Years

It was one of the ugliest political scandals of all time. Not long after his bid for the Oval Office ended in 2008, the National Enquirer reported that John Edwards had fathered a child with Rielle Hunter. What made the rumors worse was the fact that his long term wife, Elizabeth, had been diagnosed with cancer the year before. The Edwards separated before 2009 arrived. But John denied rumors that he got engaged to baby mama Rielle Hunter after Elizabeth died in 2010.

Al and Tipper Gore - 40 Years

Their passionate kiss at the 2000 Democratic National Convention was one of the most well known examples of PDA in political history. But after 40 years, former-Vice President Al Gore and his wife Tipper decided to separate. Although they broke the news in June of 2010, confirmation of a divorce has never been published. In the meantime, the Current TV chief has managed to sidestep a few rumors of affairs and was cleared of any wrongdoing in a sexual assault case last year.
