Liz Hurley's Ex-Fiancé Talks About Her Uncomfortably Close Friendship with Hugh Grant: 'It All Just Got Too Hard'

Think two's company and three's a crowd?

Then spare a thought for Australian cricket legend Shane Warne, who said he had to compete with The Man From U.N.C.L.E. star Hugh Grant throughout his whirlwind relationship with English beauty Elizabeth Hurley.

"It's hard on your new relationship when you're really good friends with the exes," Warne, 46, said on Australia's I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! reality show, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

"Elizabeth was really good friends with Hugh, who is like her best friend," he said to his castmates while they lounged in the African jungle. "When I used to go back to Australia, if she wasn't leaving London, he'd come and spend the weekend at the house.

"I went, 'I tell you what. Tell him to come when I'm there,' " Warne adds, before revealing that he also told Hurley, "Well, I knew Hugh before I knew you, so just tell him to come over. But she said, 'Oh no, he feels uncomfortable.' "

Grant, 55, and Hurley, 50, dated for 13 years before they split in May 2000. The Royals actress later married Indian textile millionaire Arun Nayar in March 2007, before filing for divorce in March 2011 citing "unreasonable behavior" around the time she was romantically linked to Warne.

The pair then enjoyed a high profile, whirlwind romance that Warne describes as including a "high lust factor." The pair had a year-long engagement before splitting in 2012.

"Contrary to what anyone writes, I didn't do anything wrong, she didn't do anything wrong, it all just got too hard," Warne added.

Despite the closeness during their relationship, Warne also insists that Grant – who recently welcomed a baby girl with Swedish TV presenter Anna Eberstein, 37, – is not romantically tied to Hurley in any way."

When asked by his fellow I'm A Celebrity… contestants about the possibility, he added in typical blunt Aussie style "Nah, they are just friends."
