Lea Michele has finally arrived! The 'Glee' star responds to pregnancy rumors

Stop the presses! "Glee" star Lea Michele appeared to have the worst thing any starlet can be seen with — a, gulp, tummy — as she hit a nail salon in Studio City, California, on Saturday. Because it's so rare to see proof that a female celebrity does, in fact, eat, a pic of Michele with a less-than-flat stomach immediately sparked rumors that the 26-year-old is expecting a little one with her co-star and boyfriend Cory Monteith. But even before fans had time to rush out and buy a "New Directions fan" monogrammed onesie, Michele revealed the truth in a Twitter post. "My first fake pregnancy rumor! I've finally made it! :)," she wrote.

The diva, who's working on her first solo album and has just finished work on the upcoming animated movie "Dorothy of Oz," was being sarcastic, but she's actually right! The pregnancy rumor, whether it proves to be true or not, has become a hallmark of fame. Hollywood has as many phantom baby bumps as it has juice diets, celebrity-designed clothing lines, or Christian Louboutin heels on the red carpet. This year alone, both Katie Holmes, 33, who ended up divorcing husband Tom Cruise instead of expanding her family with him, and petite actress Eva Longoria, 37, who's dating New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, found themselves the subject of reports that they'd soon be visited by the stork. The Holmes story was fueled by an unnamed source's claim in Star magazine last April. The rumors about Longoria began after she appeared oh-so slightly more plump than usual in a body-hugging leather dress at a red carpet event earlier this month.

But they've got it easy compared to some ladies! Take the former Kate Middleton, 30, who's constantly said to be expecting a child with her husband of just 18 months, Prince William. Or poor Beyonce, 31, who's faced accusations not only that she's concealed a pregnancy (and is again right now!), but also that she wore a fake baby bump and only pretended to be pregnant with her and hubby Jay-Z's 9-month-old daughter Blue Ivy. The story goes that the baby's actual mother is a surrogate.

Still, not even "Irreplaceable" singer Beyonce has faced pregnancy gossip as many times as Jennifer Aniston. She shot down stories of impending mommyhood while married to that stud (and nonsensical mumbler) Brad Pitt, and continues to do so — even seven years after their divorce was finalized! That's right, tabloid reports in January of this year claimed that Pitt's new partner, Angelina Jolie, almost walked out on him after learning that he and Aniston conceived a child that Aniston miscarried back in 2004. Is it too much to believe that a 43-year-old woman just hasn't had any interest in having children? Apparently so! Aniston, who's now said to be expecting with her fiancé, Justin Theroux, is so amused by the baby talk that last month she appeared in a parody video that shows her pregnant with triplets.

Of course, every now and then, presumptions that a celebrity is preggers turn out to be true. Just last week, actress Megan Fox announced the September arrival of Noah, her son with Brian Austin Green after denying her pregnancy for months and confirming it only through photos. Like Adele, who gave birth to her first child, a son, this week, and Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon, whose third child, a son named Tennessee, was born in September, Fox was outed by paparazzi pics.

So, in Michele's case, it sounds like congrats are in order for a different reason than first thought: The pregnancy rumor means that she's definitely arrived!
