Lady Gaga canceled a sold-out concert in Indonesia after Islamist protestors threatened violence against the pop singer, The Associated Press reports.

The group claimed her sexy clothes and provocative dance moves would corrupt the youth. Supporters of the group had reportedly bought 150 tickets to the concert, according to group spokesperson Murhali Barda. Despite being promised full refunds for the June 3rd event, fans were angered that police refused to issue a permit for the show because of concerns about security. After public outcry over refusing to issue the necessary permits, police said they would reconsider but only if Lady Gaga agreed to tone down her act. Instead, she canceled the tour stop altogether.

"We had to cancel the concert in Indonesia. I'm so very sorry to the fans & just as devastated as you if not more," Gaga tweeted to her followers. "You are everything to me. I will try to put together something special for you. My love for Indonesia has only grown. #GagaSendsLoveToJakarta and all its people."

"It's unfortunate," Minola Sebayang, the lawyer for the concert's promoter, said. "But with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling it off. This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."

After the event was axed, approximately 50 fans dressed up like the singer at a Jakarta shopping mall and performed some of her biggest hits.
