Kristin Cavallari

"The Hills" star Kristin Cavallari was already engaged to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler once, so his proposal the second time around was pretty low-key.

Like, really low-key.

"I was in the airport, leaving Chicago. We had just spent however many days together and we were texting and somehow it came up, like, 'Oh, shall we get married?' We're like, 'Yeah, OK,'" she told E! News in a recent interview. "And then he sent my ring in the mail."

How romantic. The mom of baby Camden might have been okay with that proposal, but her fans definitely were not - and the criticism drove her to set the record straight on Twitter.

"Last time I'm saying this: jay proposed in Cabo, got down one 1 knee, & was incredibly sweet. Stop trying to make it something it's not," she added on Feb. 8.

So, there you have it.

We don't typically hear too much about celebrity marriage proposals since they like to be so "private" and all, but we've rounded up a few that sound oh-so-sweet and romantic.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux

"Wanderlust" co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux had dated for over a year before he finally proposed in a "simple" way back in Aug. 2012.

"Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage," his rep said at the time.

Simple and sweet - perfect for this low-key couple.

Giuliana Rancic and Bill Rancic

E! News host Giuliana Rancic was sky high when now-husband Bill Rancic proposed to her - literally. The red carpet staple told SheKnows.com that he proposed while they were on a helicopter ride over Chicago.

"Bill proposed in a helicopter above Chicago. It was a total surprise. I thought we were going to see the Christmas lights on Michigan Avenue and Bill loves aviation," G said. "So, I just thought it was something crazy thing he wanted to do."

Instead, he popped out a diamond - and the big question.

Pretty romantic if you ask us!

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

Mariah Carey's life has always been over the top, so it's only natural that now-husband Nick Cannon proposed on the rooftop of her Manhattan apartment with a 17-carat diamond hidden inside a candy ring.

One proposal wasn't enough for the "American Idol" judge, though: Cannon re-popped the question a few days later.

"He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride," she told Elle magazine in 2008. "Then he re-proposed."
