Kristen Stewart returns to the screen in racy role after cheating scandal

Notoriously-private actress Kristen Stewart would probably like to disappear about now. The 22-year-old "Twilight" star wouldn't publicly acknowledge a romantic relationship with co-star Robert Pattinson for the longest time – even though everyone knew it was going on! Then last month, she was caught cheating on Pattinson with her married "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders in paparazzi photos, which led to her making an uncharacteristically candid statement apologizing for her indiscretions. Yikes! Unfortunately for KStew, there's not much time for her to hide out. Even before "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2" hits theaters on November 16 and all the red carpets (and run-ins with Pattinson!) that come with that, Stewart's returning to the spotlight in a racy role. She plays Marylou, the 16-year-old bride of one of the two men on a long-distance adventure in the big-screen version of Jack Kerouac's iconic novel On the Road. A new trailer shows Stewart's character dancing with her on-screen husband, "TRON: Legacy's" Garrett Hedlund, and looking sultry.

In the film, which also stars Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Elisabeth Moss, and Amy Adams, Stewart has several sex scenes and appears topless. However, she's revealed that she never hesitated to take on the project. "I have kind of no qualms about it either," Stewart told MTV. "I think people are a little uptight." She credited the movie's director Walter Salles, who also helmed 2004's "The Motorcycle Diaries," with making her feel comfortable on the set. "I wasn't scared, honestly," she said of the intimate scenes. "It's kind of insane to watch now. I'm like, 'Who is that?' But I think – as every actress says when they do this is – it just felt so right. It was so within a different world and so within a different environment that I don't even really feel – I mean, I am personally connected to it, of course – but it is something outside of myself."

"On the Road" debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May, but it's still undetermined when it will arrive in U.S. theaters.

Stewart will likely be in the headlines again next week. That's when Pattinson is scheduled to give his first interviews since news of the cheating scandal broke. He's been mum until now, but he'll appear on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" Monday and ABC's "Good Morning America" Wednesday to promote his new movie "Cosmopolis." Too bad no one will be interested in what he has to say about that!
