Sad news for '90s rap fans: Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly was found dead in his Atlanta-area home on Wednesday night. He was 34.

According to reports, the "Jump" rapper died of "a mixture of heroin and cocaine." His mother, Donna Kelly Pratt, told police he was doing drugs the day before and had gone home to recover.

"Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him," his mom wrote in a joint statement with his record label, So So Def. "His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him."

Kelly's death is the latest in a long list of rappers that have died too soon. We're familiar with the death of Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, but who else left us before their time?

Proof - best known for his group, D-12, and for being best friends with Eminem - was gunned down outside a Detroit nightclub in 2006 and died a week later. He was 32.

The death sent Eminem into a deep depression - and ultimately contributed to his addiction to prescription pills.

"I felt like 'Well maybe if I would have been with him at the club that night'… He knows I was trying to get him to chill out and stop going to the club so much," Eminem told XXL magazine in 2009.

Big Pun

Bronx-born rapper Big Pun - real name Christopher Rios - died in 1998, but it wasn't from violence. The 28-year-old collapsed at a White Plains, N.Y. hotel from a massive heart attack.

He weighed 698 lbs. at the time of his death.

His death did inspire his pal, rapper Fat Joe, to drop some weight of his own.

"I realized at a certain point, all my big people were dying," he told Billboard of his 100 lb weight loss. "I couldn't see a clearer picture, what's the difference between me and him, of me being in a casket?"

Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes

TLC rapper Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was in the middle of a spiritual rebirth of sorts when she died in 2002 in Honduras. The singer passed away after her car hit another head-on in the region of La Ceiba. She was 30.

"She was our sister, you know?" her groupmate, Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, told CNN after her death. "And no matter what we went through, we're sisters… We'll always be a group. It doesn't stop."
