Kim Kardashian and family have a new reason to rejoice!
"Keeping Up With The Kardashians," the show that people love to hate, is nominated for two 2012 Teen Choice Awards. The reality program has been a winner in the past but we've got to ask, should this show with adult overtones win a Teen Choice Award?
Remember when President Barack Obama said that he didn't find the K-Dash programming appropriate for young Sasha and Malia to watch? In fact, First Lady Michelle Obama insists that Sasha and Malia have chores and don't grow up as "little princesses." Despite being in the White House, the First Daughters have an anti-Kardashian lifestyle. About the show, Mrs. O says, "I'm more concerned with how they take it in -- what did you learn when you watched that. And if they're learning the right lessons, like, that was crazy, then I'm like, okay." She sees it all as a possible teachable moment.
This season "KUWTK" kicked off with Khloe Kardashian Odom's paternity scandal. Momager Kris Jenner confessed to cheating on Robert Kardashian in her memoir. She does insist however that her children were all her husband's. Two of Mr. Kardashian's ex-wives joined together a few months ago to say something different. The women insist that Robert Sr. confided in them that Khloe was not his daughter. This led to a media sensation as Khloe looks quite different from her older sisters.
On the show, Kris asks Khloe to take a paternity test. She says that it would be for Khloe's peace of mind. These are all normal human foibles but we have to ask, is this appropriate fare for the Teen Choice Awards? On the other hand, they have successfully blended a family, not an easy feat. Despite the dubious way that Kim originally came to fame, the premise of the E! show is to follow a fun family and their zany antics.
Well, the Dash-Jenner clique wants your vote. "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" is nominated for the Reality Show Award and Khloe, Kourtney and Kimmie are nominated for the best Female Reality Star. In 2011, the family actually opened the show known as "the biggest teen party in the world."
The Kardashian girls are reaching out to fans via their blogs to ask for support. So why do they deserve your vote?
Kim writes, "Hey dolls!! I'm so excited that this year my sisters and I are nominated for two Teen Choice Awards!! My sisters and I always have so much fun together when we attend and it would be a huge honor to win this year!" She goes on to appeal to her younger fans explaining, "I think the Teen Choice Awards was actually one of the Kendall and Kylie's first big red carpet events. And now look how far they've come!!Please vote for us on the Teen Choice Awards website! It would mean so much to us all. Thanks dolls! Xo."
Khloe says, "Exciting news dolls… You can vote everyday :). Thank you for the love and support dolls! I love you all madly.Click through the gallery to see pics from last year's Teen Choice Awards with my family. Such a fun event! xoxoxo."
Mason's mom, Kourtney Kardashian explains, "Wow! I just heard that we are nominated for two Teen Choice Awards this year! Keeping Up with the Kardashians is nominated for the Reality Show award and Kim, Khloe and I are all nominated collectively for the Female Reality Star award. This is so exciting!" She adds, "The awards have such a fun, young vibe."
So what do you think?
Is the Kardashians' reality show more appropriate for adults or teens? Are you a fan? Will you be voting? Do they deserve another Teen Choice Award?
